                                         Frequently Asked Questions.

1. What do i need to start training?

   For your first lesson wear a pair of jogging bottoms and a t-shirt and if you have flat tennis style shoes you may wear those (seniors only) or train in bare feet.

2. How fit do i have to be to start Kickboxing training?

   You don't have to be fit at all to start training your instructor will assess your fitness levels and tailor your training accordingly.

3. Can i start if i am a complete beginner?

   Yes in our classes we have students of all abilities and ages and your instructor will tailor your training according to your ability and experience.Remember everyone has been a beginner so you won't feel out of place.

 5.Is there a monthly fee?

Yes you may pay per lesson for the first month and then a cheaper monthly fee is payable and enables students to enjoy unlimited training at all of our three clubs at no extra cost

6. Are Family and student discounts available?

Yes we operate a Family discount policy and we offer student discounts.A discount will also be available if you are claiming income support so please ask your instructor for details,

7. Will i have to fight and is the sparring full-contact?

   No of course you do not have to spar if you don't want to you can train just to get fit if that's what you want,but unfortunately you will not be able to grade as the sparring is a vital part of kickboxing training.Our sparring at the Academy is light-contact with full-contact available on request but will not be part of the main class.Remember we are not a glorified kickboxercise class.

8. Will i learn how to defend myself?

   Yes all the training we do is geared towards power development for the real world,we do not teach sport kickboxing (juniors learn some sport techniques).

9. Is self-defence training available?

   Yes as part of our syllabus we teach relevant self-defence techniques in order for students to be able to defend themselves in real life situations.

10. How often do i need to train?

    Training twice a week is ideal and necessary in order to grade but once a week will suffice if need be.

11. Will i get fit and lose weight?

    Definately, it is a proven fact that kickboxing training is one of the best forms of cardiovascular and fat burning exercises in existence and at the Academy we do a lot of conditioning training that you won't get at a traditional martial arts class.

12. What age do you take children from.

   We accept children from 5yrs of age at the Academy.

13. Are the classes mixed or are there seperate chldrens classes?

   Our Junior and senior classes are completely seperate with different syllabuses.

14. Are Gradings compulsory?

   No Gradings are not compulsory but are an excellant way of monitoring a students progress.

15. Are the instructors Qualified and insured?

   Yes the instructor is a fully qualified instructor and grading examiner with over 26yrs experience and has personal liability and public indemnity insurance and is CIB checked.

16. Are there regular competions to enter?

    Yes we are Affilliated to the World United Martial Arts Association (WUMA),and semi-contact tournaments are run on a regular basis.
